Molding

CUSTOM INJECTION MOLDING
Stone Plastics is prepared to meet the challenges and technical requirements of virtually any size project with more than 40 injection molding machines ranging from 8 to 1,000 tons, all within a new 165,000 ft2 facility.  We take pride in treating every project uniquely with the goal of offering you, our customer, superior price, quality, and delivery.

2 SHOT MOLDING
Many of our molding machines are two shot machines which allow two different types or colors of resin to be injected into the same mold producing parts such as an automotive tail light lens or a rigid part with a soft flexible gasket molded as a single unit.  This process can often eliminate secondary assembly costs.

INSERT MOLDING
We insert-mold a wide variety of items including threaded inserts, steel counterweights, steel stampings, and even polyester fabric in both horizontal and vertical presses. The advantages of insert molded parts are numerous. Some are:

  • Reduced assembly and labor costs – Because insert molding joins numerous components with thermoplastic, assembly and labor costs are greatly reduced.
  • Reduced size and weight – By eliminating fasteners and connectors, and by combining the physical strength of resin and metal inserts, insert molding produces smaller and lighter components.
  • Increased reliability – With every part tightly secured in thermoplastic, an insert molded component is prevented from loosening, misalignment, and has improved resistance to shock and vibration.
  • Increased design flexibility – designers appreciate the virtually unlimited configurations that insert molding allows. Unique shapes can be easily produced that would be virtually impossible and cost prohibitive with other methods.

AUTOMATION
Automation translates into repeatability and low cost.  That’s why Stone Plastics has three or six axis robots on virtually every molding press.  We have the capability to design, build and install the most sophisticated automation equipment in-house allowing us to save time and money on equipment which provides Stone Plastics, and our customers, a distinct advantage.
